Gulfstream continues to report progress on its two new large-cabin twinjet programs—the G500 and G600. Through August 20, the five flight-test G500s have flown more than 3,460 hours over some 905 flights.

According to Gulfstream, the G500 recently completed certification testing for flyover noise, cabin systems, brakes, and lighting, while company testing of the fuel system is finished. The G500 has been flown to a maximum speed of Mach 0.995 and a maximum altitude of 53,000 feet. Certification flying is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, with certification and service entry to follow soon thereafter.

Meanwhile, the four flight-test G600s have logged more than 780 hours during 175 flights, the longest lasting 13 hours and 5 minutes. A fifth test aircraft, complete with production interior, will be added to the program later this quarter.

G600 development testing has been completed in several areas, including initial envelope expansion and flying qualities, brakes, low speed or stall, loads calibration, parameter identification and climb performance. Company testing is ongoing and certification testing for loads and flutter has been completed. Gulfstream said that the G600 program is on schedule for certification and deliveries next year.
